Last week was our end of the year dinner as a staff - it was bittersweet, as we said goodbye to our colleagues who were graduating but had one last chance to celebrate together as a group and share our memories from the year.
For an end of the year gift, I secretly collected notes from my staff's residents, family, and friends (which was no easy feat - both keeping it a secret and contacting their families without their help). After collecting messages of encouragement, I printed them out and put them in mason jars.
For the final touch, I printed out covers for the mason jar lids and personalized them with a drawing of each person on staff. The drawings of everyone were also compiled onto a print and distributed (in the gift bags behind the jars).
It was amazing to watch them open each note and read sentiments from their parents, residents, partners, and friends - and wonder aloud how I got a hold of these people to write to them.
